rebuilding a 100 engine, the main crank cap bolts did not have lock tabs when disassembled. Is this normal or are they missing from prior rebuild.

My 100 did not have"em either, nor does it have lock"n retainers now. A drop of loctite will hold"em. When you install the rear seal upper and lower plates spray some soapy water around the out side and use low air pressure and a blow gun and check for leaks. I seal"em with good automotive gray silicon, also seal the front cover to with it. The covers git bent and dis sorted and hard to seal up.

Fire crater pistons will wake it up, a late 140 head and cam will turn it into a beast.

All I have ever taken apart had the tabs on them.
