I'm going to add to the great advice below that if it is not consuming more than a quart of oil in a days medium duty (more than a hay rake less than a mold board plow) it is probably tolerable. If the consumption is higher, or spikes at a quart every two-three hrs under full load, it is time. JimN

all engines will have some blow by visible from breather tube from that time frame. if excessive it indicates time for complete engine overhaul. How is this tractor used? if on light loads only it may be suffering from stuck rings or glazed rings. find a load to put on it that will pull the dog s*&t out of it these engines need to be worked to get cylinder and piston temps up and burn carbon build up out of it

IF ya have blowby then i would venture to say that she is suffern from internal injurys and either she is plum wore out of she started to seezen because of scoreing of liners or melted pistons due to incorrect ing. timing or improper fuel or just plum used tomuch when new. As for just putting rings in is like putting a bandaid on something that needs a dozen stitches.

I would check compression in each cylinder, could have a bad piston.

Usually means you need new piston rings. Sounds like it is time for an engine rebuild.
