I believe my carb is not getting gas on my M. Starts for a second or so when I shoot in some starting fluid. The gas line is clear running to the carb. But he bowlseems to be dry. That much I know.

I tried blowing into the gas line intake and cannot blow through --should I be able to? The needle seems to be clear, I can blow through that. Any ideas? if my hunch is correct, how do I unclog that fuel intake ? I"ve tried soaking it in kerosene, weedling a wire into there --that"s the extent of what i"ve tried,w/o screwing it up even more.

Thanks guys.

First let me say that if you are not comfortable or knowledgeable about working on carburetors, please let someone else do it for you because there are a number of things inside that carb that can easily be damaged by an inexperienced tinkerer. Having said that, I will tell you that apparently your carb has sat for quite some time with gasoline in it, and that gas now turned into a sticky gooey mess that has caused the needle valve to stick shut and possibly has also caused the float to freeze up on the pivot pin. The only long lasting cure is to take it off the tractor and give it a thorough cleaning.
