What do you guys know about a 600 Diesel? I have located one that the guy wants $1000 (I thought it was to much). The tin is in good shape, one of the rear wheels is completly gone, will need new front tires, when he was pulling it outta the trees, the left rear wheel was slideing, I suspect there is sand blown in somewhere (its really sandy). Tried, but not real hard to turn the engine and it wouldn't move, he thinks it has sat there for at least 20 years, what could I be getting into?

Thanks Derek

Paid $300 for one several years back that was stuck, but all there except the amp meter/switch box rusted through and missing injectors. Promptly sold it before I got home from the auction for $600. Had real good rear tires and useable fronts on it. Tin was rusty but not beat up, all the stainless was there, I think it had power steering.

Mechanical parts from Super 9 and 650 will work for the most part. Is it a gas or diesel? There were just under 1500 made, total.

I see one in the classifieds for around $4000 in running condition, so evidently they aren't as "rare" as the 26,000 or so SMTA's that were built. third party image

The 600 is rare only made in 56. They are awsome machines big powerful 350cid putting out like 65 horse at the PTO. the downside is that they are really expensive to work on and parts are not the easiest to get, there are some others that can interchange with the 600 like the W9, WD9, Super Wd9, 650. I think it depends on how much you want to spend. as for the price if its complete doesnt sound like a bad price, heck its gotta be worth 500 in scrap alone.
