Purchaced a tractor loader backhoe and trying to figure the model and year. I think, by looking at pictures, its ether a 3414 or a 3444 International. The serial number tag has been painted over, but the casting numbers on the engine are 3040912R4 and the transmission are 3064161R4. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, one of differences was in the brakes and parking brake lever between B414 and 434 and 444.

The brake pedals arms on B414 connected directly via an adjusting bolt to a clevis that attached to the brake assy. The 434 & 444 had an extra mechanism at the entrance of the brake housing to give additional mechanical advantage when braking. The parking brake lever on the B414 had a ratchet locking mechanism and the 434 & 444 had a level that was either locked on or off and the locking mechanism was adjusted with the knob on the parking brake handle.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your help. I don't think it has an adjustment knob on the parking brake but believe it's a peddle on the right side? I still have a lot to learn about this tractor.

I bought a 3444 couple weeks ago - The only diff Ive seen btwn the two seems to be the round fenders on the 3414 -The frame looks the same - There are probably more differences but I've only seen pics of the other model. The pic is my Tractor with the loader and backhoe off ( engine rebuild in process) My trusty 8N is in the background. Good luck with yours. Ed

Your tractor looks much like mine but mine has a simms cab that the fenders are attached to.I don't really know what the original fenders looked like. Does yours have the id tag rivited to the right lower middle of the frame? Mine is'nt legable (painted and scraped). Thanks for your help

Yes Mine has a 2"x 4" tag riveted to the side - I could make out very little- The Aluminum plate had been beaten to death and painted and cleaned and then beat some more - There were two other plates on both sides near the front that said 3444 but the frame where these mounted has rusted clean thru and the plates are now gone. You can order all the manuals for either model here at Ytmag - Ive got the BD154 Diesel in mine.
