The Vertical distributor is an aftermarket usually made by Delco Remy. It should also fit other makes and models of tractors. I once had one of those vertical ones on my H, but it was more difficult to time it, so I sold my distributor and bought a H4 magneto instead. The distributor sold for $101.00 and I paid $80.00 for my magneto.

Your tractor originally had a magneto ignition. At some point it was converted to battery ignition as most of them were, and the distributor of choice at that time was the Delco vertical distributor. There are probably just about as many Farmall Hs with the vertical distributor as there are with the IH horizontal distributor.
