I've discovered since I moved to the new house this road is as GREEN as the new grass in spring. There was an old guy sneeked by here the other day on a well weathered SC or 200, don't know where he came from or where he went to, just vanished.

Anyhow, just to proove there is some Deere in my past, I dug out an old patio bell, I once won as door prize at Farming Frontiers. About an 8" bell with a deer on top. My neighbor a Deere man took me along as his guest back 35 years ago. Most of you guys know I once had a Deere, but these guy in Katesville don't know. Now, when they drive by on their Deere's, I'll just ring that big bell, it'll be heard above most Deere's.

Hugh, Maybe you could hire a local kid to drive some of your red tractors up and down the road, dragging different pieces of equipment (out of season would be best) Just to keep the locals confused. Very early in the morning would be best, or late at night, so they know you are working. Another option would be to post a sign VOTE NO on Deere Tax. That will keep them guessing .

Gary: No, I'm going to buy a green tractor to match my green hat. Yes, it will have a yellow grill and red wheels. You see, one thing I've learned, Deere guys get so wrapped up in themselves, they think there is only one green.

its a good thing you moved in there, not only will the neighborhood have somebody that has tractors that actually start the same day you want to use them, but you can show them they dont have to drive something the same color as the crops to farm

I suggest you become a really good neighbor! Offer to pull start them whenever they have problems. :-) Just joking. One of the *GREAT* things about YT Mag is that tractor folk are good natured folk all around, and this is all in friendly humor.

Would you like to borrow my bell for a greater effect? It was made by the successor company to Revere Copper (Boston) in 1845. For you Canadians, yeah, that would be Paul Revere. Does that ring a bell?

Nah, it's really not mine. It belongs to the church next door.

In a few months they'll want to be your friend after they see how easy your tractor starts and plows snow.
