Ok, well, thanks to everyone for the advice so far on the carb, Im guessing it isn't the problem. This B doesn't have the standard H4 mag. It's been replaced with an FMJ Fairbanks. The guy I bought it from had a couple of spares though. I pulled the cap off the mag, whoa, what a mess.
What Im wondering is would it be easier to work over one of the Farmall Mags, or the FMJ?
Is one better than the other? or are they about the same?

If the mess includes oil, you will have to pull off the impulse and put in a new seal.

You need to clean the points with a piece of 320 wet or dry then use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to clean them again. You need to clean that mess inside the mag too. I think the FM mag's points are set at .015." Then see if there's fire at your sparkplugs. Make sure the kill switch on the mag is in the run position. Hal

PS: If you ever need to pull the mag you need to
look at the rotor and see where it is pointing, then make a sketch. Then don't move the engine once the mag is removed. When reinstalling the mag or any mag you turn the rotor to the position
you have in your sketch and install the mag. The same applies to a distributor too.

You forgot to tell him not to get the rotor out of time also.

Do you have a manual for that mag????? ?? If not drop me an e-mail and I'll send you one. Mags aren't all that hard to fix but with out a manual they can be a night mare.
