Our local dealer can only sell the whole cap and is talking in excess of $100.00. I only need 2-4 carbons. Any ideas or shou8ld I just get er done? Thanks in advance. NE IA Dave

Dave,

The link below will get you to a company in

NW Pa the makes carbon rods of many sizes and

shapes. I got some seconds and broken ones from

them to use for plugs to put in castings so I

can weld around the hole without filling the

hole.

I think the rods are normally 6 ft long ,cut

with fine tooth saw turn in lathe, grind or

file to finish.

They were available last winter from IH---about $8 or9. Kind of pricey, but at least available.

You can make them from carbon brushes used for drills and other parts with a bit of file work. JimN

I get them at CarQuest. The shop man works on mags there so they must have a source to get them.
