Does anyone know how you'd pull a shifter that's stuck between gears out of a 400 Farmall?

Just take the 3 bolts out at swivel base and lift out. You may need another gasket or sealer when reinstalling, or cross pin can be removed.

Soft plugs on each side of the shifter pedestal have to come out. Then there is a floating horizontal shaft (may have a groove worn in it) which comes out. You may have to push down on the shifter to get the shaft out. Then the shifter comes right out and you can use a long screwdriver to align the rails.

If it is a persistent problem you often can fix it by welding up the bottom of the shifter a little, but you also can keep it from happening just by paying attention to how you shift to make sure you get into neutral before going to another gear.

The original owner went to put fuel in it, but didn't get into neutral before turning off. Then when he went back to start it he couldn't get it unstuck from being in between the two gears.
