Been searching the archives without much luck...I am not very good at it....and cannot find this info. How much washing soda to a gallon of water in my tank? Also, it has been a couple years since I had the tank set up, does the part I am cleaning go on the + or the - terminal of my 12 volt power source? Hopefully the above title will make it easier to find this info in the archives for those of us who are challenged in these areas.

Thanks everyone! The fboerger site is my usual resource for this info and I had not counted on it going into repair mode. It is up again, however and I have archived the info so I won't lose it again. Much appreciated!

Dave, it was FIT who's on the Case forum and also JD. His website is down, under construction. BUT it you would like a copy of his info email me. I saved it to Words couple of years ago...4 pages.
And you are correct on the formula 1 TBLS to 1 gal water.

I have some parts cooking right now in my tank. Will pull them out tomorrow and pressure wash them.

The 1 tablespoon of washing soda is correct. The site I found this is www.fboerger.com. I tried this site some time ago and it wasn't working. I have a copy of his narrative which I would send if you like, but you have the information correct on amount and hookup. I've been using this for a few weeks and it's absolutely amazing. I use a piece of tin roofing as the collector and clean it morning and evenings and use it until it has fallen apart as the holes in it get larger. I even cleaned the engine after all the parts were out of it. It had some rust inside and it cleaned it nicely.

It's difficult to find washing soda. I get mine at Cub food stores in St Paul. I was in Missouri last week and the fellow I talked with is doing this but gets WS from Illinois or online. I also found lye, but that's more difficult to get. I added lye to the WS water, but doesn't improve it for me.

Thanks for looking. I have found an off-site source for this info. For the benefit of the archive-savvy who might find this, it is one tablespoon per gallon of lye or washing soda AND the hook-ups are positive to the sacrificial iron and negative to your part.

Dave H (MI), I peeked in the archives and two posts said one tablespoon of washing soda per gallon of water. On my older disconnected puter I bookmarked a series of pictures/text on someones 'cooking operation' which does no good now, but I'm sure folks will chime in. Can't even recall who had the great info w/pictures. Good luck.

Thanks, I could not find any. It occurs to me that I might have been only in the IH forum archives which would, of course, limit me. Fortunately, your talents provided the answer....or at least half of it. Anyhow, the 1 T per gallon is comparable to the lye formula I remember. Wish my usual source for this info would come back on line!
