We had our first tractor ride saturday only 7 tractors showed up,but thats ok,its a start.I drove my trustworthy F12,It started the first crank, but when I pulled the choke off it cut off,We keep playing with it and finally keep running, mostly with the choke on.I figured carb.problem,so I took the carb. off and cleaned it good, reinstalled,it than nothing. I removed all of the new gas lines and blew them out,and found nothing.I made a nurse tank and gravity line to the carb. and it ran.Only thing left is the fuel pump,I removed the line between the carb. and the tank and it was only a minium of gas.I said all of this to say just becaues a motor runs with the choke on it doesnt always mean carb.problems,I think the choke was sucking the gas out of the lines

You must have road gear on the 12. I would get left in the dust with my 12 on a tractor drive! Mine is a kero model and has lines going everywhere it seems. With a lot of lines going horizontal I can see how rust from the tank can build up in the bottom of the lines and even get in the checkvalve on the pump. I run my 12 gas tank almost dry and then syphon out the very bottom of the tank below the standpipe once in a while to get the crud out that settles there. Seems to help a lot!

Well, I have a Hiesler road gear unit for mine, but never put it in yet as it has bad bearings, but it bolts up on the input of the trans and has a shift lever that goes back under the rear tank support. The coupler joint on the clutch shaft has to be removed and also the rolled steel sheild has to as well. They may have had a high speed trans available for rubber tired tractors, but I don"t have a parts book to check that out. My 12 is lucky to hit 3.5 MPH in 3rd gear and came with steel originally. It has 36" tires if I remember right. It pulls real well if I weight it down good. Some 12s had 40" which would speed things up a bit.
