So I'm working one day on my 560 and I turn the steering wheel to the right and all of the sudden I can't turn it back to the left. So I cripple back to the shop and try to figure this out. When I turn the tractor off, I can turn the wheel to the left, as soon as I start the tractor, the steering wheel immediatly turns all the way to the right again, it takes all I have to keep the wheel from just turning all the way. I have removed and rebuilt the power steering control valve with all new O rings, spring, washers etc. Put it back on, same problem. Any ideas???

The 560 steering is a manual system with hydraulic assist added. Since it works OK with the tractor not running the problem is in the hydraulic assist part and not a mechanical problem. If you are sure there are no problems in the control unit the other posibility is a blown O-ring seal in the front bolster

It sounds like your power steering unit has jumped time. There was an old IHC mechanic near here a few ago and I have heard him talk about getting one put togather out of time and that is what it would do. When the tractor was started it would turn all the way to the right.

Thanks for the reply. Now the question is how do I get the power steering unit back in time? And how did it jump out of time while I was using it? Did I do something that knocked it out of time?

Thanks again.
