After soaking a 340 gas for months, we tried to pull it and the motor is still stuck. Is the engine a sleeved engine? The engine stuck from sitting years with a head gasket leak. The owner was worried he might damage it if he ran with a leaky head gasket so he parked it for several years. Is this tractor worth restoring or parting out.third party image

Looks like a keeper. It is wet sleeved much easier to take apart than a dry sleeved engine.

I think I`d try to restore it.The 340`s are a nice looking, handy tractor and lots of fun. Some of your decision depends on if you plan on keeping it or selling it after restoring.Depending what the tractor cost,if you end up doing an engine overhaul, it may run you more than the tractor`s worth. Also ,does the TA work ? That would make a differance to me.If you should decide to part it out, I would be interested in the front bolster cover that has the hand crank hole in it. Mark

I'd pull the head and see what I was dealing with. You know you have a leaky head gasket that needs replaced and I doubt it gotten better after sitting for so long.

Craig, I would certainly consider restoring that tractor. It looks like it has most of the desired options and the tin work looks to be all there if you have the hood and side panels. It has the wide front with wheel weights, and the TA and fast hitch, the seat is also the deluxe one. The 340 Farmall is a low production tractor that will only increase in value in my opinion. The engine is sleeved and about 35 HP. They are a great tractor. PUTTER
