Been mulling this over awhile and am considering getting a wide front for my Super M. After listening to my friend talk about raking hay with my SM, I think the time has come.

Where are Schwartz front ends available new? I like dealing with Steel Wheel Ranch, but haven't gotten a chance to ask him yet.

I have a WFE M and w/o the loader it steers aka: turns like power steering, but as soon as I put the loader on. You will not turn the wheels till you start rolling.
MHO, I really like the WFE, have driven both and find the WFE much safer. Still get bounce, so I'm not sure that this will help much in that repect.

I've got one here in SD. Perfect shape, no welds or spindle wear or cracks. Email is open

The newer ones are a lot neater in appearance that the old "Angle-Iron" versions.

Got mine from Mike at Steel Wheel Ranch at a cost of $813 delivered. They don't come with hubs, wheels or tires. Spindles only and ya have to transfer all the stuff from your trike front end.

Very, very satisfied with this front-end.

I got my Schwartz wide front used for free. Came on a locked up, beat up 450 for $400... took the front end off and parted it out for a few hundred more than that.

Go with the heavy duty version that has the 6-bolt hubs just in case you ever want to put a loader on it.

I priced them last spring, and the going rate new was between $700 and $900, depending upon whether or not freight was included in the price.

if your only raking with the m it is of my humble opinion your messing up swaping the front that wide front aint gona turn narways as tight as that narrow one i can trun so tight with my h that i can lay the wheel all the round parallel
with the rake body

I understand the manuverability point of view. However, many of the fields around here are rougher than heck and a WFE would certainly minimize the bouncing. My friend had my SM out raking for a day last week and he was getting bounced around on the seat like crazy.
I'm not shook up about power steering. He has his own SM with a universal WFE, steers hard, but it gets lots of use.

In any case, I haven't made up my mind.

For what it's worth, not all WFE steer hard. I have a factory IH front w/ tie rods in front of the axle on my straight M. Steers easy as can be.

And then you'll want power steering, so figure that cost in too, because wide fronts steer a lot harder than narrow fronts.

They also tend to give you a false sense of "won't tip over". I've seen more wide fronts rolled than narrow fronts. Go figure.
