I have a 48 H and 47 M. I have been reading the ad for spark plug adapters from R.E.A.M in Red Power magazine. Has anyone tried this and does it improve power?

Thanks

Those spark plug adapters are targeted towards tractors that use spark plugs that are next to impossible to find. You COULD use them in your Farmalls, but you will not gain any increased performance or spark plug life. Brand new spark plugs for the Farmalls are readily available just about anywhere you look, and there are at least 3 different brands. Autolite, A.C. Delco, or Champion, and each of those brands offer several different heat ranges to suit your needs.

Most simple performance enhancing products car, truck, or tractor --- Don't. It takes major modifications.

Spark plugs that provide a good exposure of the fuel air mix to the spark reliably are all you can hope for. The normal plugs in a Tractor will do that task well. Adapters for more exotic plugs insulate the plug from coolant, and change the heat range of the substitute plug as much as two heat ranges. The best plugs are those that work. I do not like champion plugs, but they are not a disaster, they just seem to have less uniformity to them, and others (Autolite and AC) seem to be longer in the hole. A electronic ignition, and hotter coil, combined with a .040" gap is about as good as it gets. Modern gasoline and oils are 90% of the reason plugs fowl so much less than they did in the days of lead. Adapters are not for me. JimN
