Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to find a buddy seat for a BN?
Thanks.

With acknowledgment to all the safety concerns . . . in my day we sat on top of the shaft housing with our feet resting on the drawbar anchor, and held onto the fender if needs be.

Otherwise . . . The BN is simpler than the B, in that you need two seat supports (maybe easier to come by for ther commonality with the A) that will bolt up to the tranny and the flange on the final drive. DaveH's suggestion to chase out the threads on the tranny end sounds like a good one to heed. An a or BN floor pan, with mods for the switch from left to right (again chasing out the mounting threads) a couple of springs and a seat, and I should think you'd be home.

Shouldn't be hard at all. I just put one on our B and unless the BN is a lot different it should work. I took an extra floor pan, cut to size for me by another forum member (it needs a little modifying to fit the left side axle), and shaped it with a grinder to fit perfectly. Once I had that on I just bolted on an extra set of seat brackets and a pan seat with springs. You must carefully clean and run a tap through the holes on the left side or you will in all probability break a bolt in them. As for safety....I won't allow a passenger if there is an implement on the tractor as a sudden start or stop could conceivably pitch the passenger off what with no steering wheel to hang on to. My passengers hang onto the steering column and/or the brackets. I am going to add a foot rest also. Of all the methods of carrying a passenger on a tractor, I think this must be about the safest. Pitching forward would smart some but the tractor is unlikely to run over you because it would be stopped. Backwards is mostly a worry if you are one to pop the clutch at high RPM's and mostly then if there is an implement coming behind. In that case you are probably lining up for an accident anyway. HTH

I have seen guys use the seat, springs and floor pan from an A and put it on.
I know a lot of folks do it, but it just kinda scares me to have someone riding on a tractor...when they are a city kid...I get real nervous.
When I was a kid on the farm, heck we would ride on anything...a drawbar, transmission case, you name it. It was a long walk to the house. We knew what the hazards were because we were around equipment all the time...and dad had a big hand to set you right real fast.
Now days...it just plain scares me.
My 2 cents....now I'll shut up.
