A friend asked me to drive his Farmall 1206 D to bush hog. It has two levers on the right of the steering wheel. The inside one makes reverse and one or two speeds forward. The outer one seems to be different ranges. Where can I find information on the gears and ranges? Thanks ya'll!

Thanks! That is exactly what I needed to know! Strange tho, the inside lever all the way forward is hi range and the outer one all the way forward is the slowest/lowest gear. Seems backward, but . . .
I was/am aware of the TA and it DOES work.
THANKS AGAIN! kelly

Yep, that's the way it should be, HI range is at the top of the inside lever, then LO, then N, and R is at the bottom. 1 is at the top of the outside lever with 4 being at the bottom. I take it that you guys are missing the quadrant that goes around the base of the shift levers, it has all the positions marked on it.

The inside lever shifts the ranges. You have three ranges- HI, LO, and R (reverse), with neutral located between LO and R. The outside lever shifts the speed gears- 1, 2, 3, and 4. Of the forward gears, LO 1 is the slowest, with HI 4 being the fastest. You can use any of the four speeds in any range, even reverse. You may also have a lever to the left side of the steering column, which controls the TA. The TA was the optional powershift, meaning it can be shifted on the go, under load, without touching the clutch pedal, giving you two speeds in every gear, for a total of 16 speeds forward and 8 reverse. When the TA lever is ahead, it is in direct drive, and when it is pulled back, it will be in underdrive (slower). Check with your friend before trying the TA, because many times the low side will be out on these older tractors.
