Does anyone know what serial # they started with when switching from gray to red in 1936. Brother-in-law has a 36 wants to get the color right. Thanks, Lee

My 1936 F-20 was grey. You can still see original grey paint showing through the red which someone painted later.

I don't know if its true or not, but I've heard that F-12's were painted gray until 1937 they painted them red.

IH began painting tractors and power units red 11-1-1936.This was the beginning of the 37 year model.Red was chosen to improve appearance and visibility. Search IH Paint Committee Decision #100 and you can read the original decision. Peavy
