H Lift-All difficult to lower with load on

I have a "46 H that has a Stan Hoist trip bucket loader on it that uses the tractors Lift-All pump to raise and lower. Whenever I have much of a load on it is difficult to lower easy. Most of the time I have to "two hand" the lever in lowering it and then more times than not it just wants to drop, not lower. Is this just the nature of the beast with Lift-All systems or do I have a problem somewhere? Thanks in advance.

There was a retarder that went in the line that slowed down the flow when released. We used them on the mounted pickers so they didnt drop fast and that would work on your loader just fine.

Plumb in a spool valve and you will be much happier. The valve will allow you much better accurate control for those small adjustments.

Get hydraulic pressure from the liftall to plumb to the "in" port like this:

Tie the lever back like this (sorry the wire was just temporary):

And put the return "out" port of the valve to the liftall drain like this:

Finally, hook up the hoses from the valve to your loader, or to remotes like this:

I'm afraid it is the nature of the beast. on my 43 h when it was loaded to the max if you wanted to lower the bucket you would have to push fairly hard (i dont know about 2 hands) and then it would go down fast and if i stopped it as it was free falling it would bounce the rear tires off the ground. he he he. you would need to have a loaader with down force to lower smoothly. as the lift all on the h from factory is only power in one direction and free fall in the other.
