I have a 1934 Farmall F-12 all in pieces that has been burried in my barn for over 20 years. I plan to start putting it back together, now that I have cleaned out the barn.

Is there a shade of gray paint that is recomended as a good match to the original, or should I just pick a shade that I like ? I know the spoked 40" rear rims and the 16" front rims should be red. Were any other parts of the tractor painted red ? I could only find small traces of gray paint in a few places under grease, so I don`t have much to go by. Thanks for your time.

John

Thanks all for the replies. I will see what my local paint store can do for me. --- Was hoping that maybe the engine was painted red. Seems like it would be a nice combo with the red wheels. Guess I could get away with it, as most of the gray F-12s got repainted all red anyway at some point in their lives. Now to get the wheels on this tractor so it is at least movable. Thanks again.

I have seen calendar pictures where the gas cap was also painted red. Whether it was originally that way or if it was someones decorative fancy I do not know.

Here's several PPG's paint codes for gray paint. Hal

30074--light gray
30031--dark gray
PS: These were IH paint codes.
