K, used your guys trick of unscrewing the fuel lines, located the miss, third cylinder back from the radiator. Fuel is coming out of the line from the pump.

How do i get the injector out, I see two bolts that look like if I take them off things will come apart, will i need some gaskets or o-rings? Will I need some sort of puller to get the injector out?

It is OK to turn the engine as long as the Pump is not out of the gears. The Compression test requires a diesel compression gauge, and adapters for the injector hole. A air pressure leak down may be easier. Make an adapter for an air chuck to fit the nozzle seat. Remove the valve cover and loosen the cylinder's valve adjusters so much that you can take out the push rods (this will likely require turning the engine enough to get the valves closed). Put the tractor in neutral. Remove the main air intake hose from the intake manifold. Turn the engine In the correct direction until the piston is traveling downward, then put 100+ psi of air to the cylinder.

Listen for escaping air from the intake opening.

Listen in the muffler.

Listen in the oil fill hole.

The hissing intake and exhaust hissing will indicate major issues with valves.

Some hissing in the oil hole is blow by and normal. A massive flow indicated a hole in the piston, or broken rings.

If the culinder seems pretty tight, It might be injector issues.
My input would be to switch cylinders and see if that moves the miss. A diesel shop is needed to test injectors correctly. JimN

well got the injector out, now what, how do you do a compression test on the cylinder, there appears to be something down inside the injector hole, can i turn the engine over with the injector out, will that hurt anything??

if i screw the injector onto the fuel line coming form the pump should the injector spray like if it was installed in the tractor so I can see if there is fuel coming through it and if so what should it look lik eif it does spray and is working properly?? the end of the injector is a little bit egg shaped is that normal? kinda has a little bit of like carbon/black stuff on the end of it

Okay, I will give that a shot and see what happens, gonna try swapping injectors and see if the problem follows the injector to another cylinder.

Never fooled with a 560, but I have taken them out of several other IH tractors. Just take out those bolts and I used something to pry a little with and they lift right out. They have a brass washer for a gasket/seal. Just blow the hole out with a compressor and clean the injector good. If washer looks good it may be. Had the same thing happen to my 666. I just cleaned everything and put it back together. Has worked fine since. 3 years ago.
