hey guys thanks for the help! i did that a year or two ago and took things one step futher. i took a light weight piece of pipe and welded some bed railings to it and using a chain to support the weight front the top of the home made grill guard i bolted the bad railings to the side of the grill guard. it stood out in front of the tractor about 4 foot and shook most of the pollen off the brush before the tractor got to it. of course when the wind was right nothing would help. being supported with the chain let it ride up or down as needed like when crossing a ditch. i never could get the screen wire to wrap around the front of the tractor just right to keep all of the trash from getting to the screen. i was bush hogging 90 acres for this lady and when my tractor started running a little warm it was a long ride fron the back side of the place back to the water hose to wash things out with. shouldn't have taken that job. never was accused of being very bright.

Flipping the fan blade around will still move air in the same direction.

Turning the fan blade around won't work!

Only way to reverse the airflow thru the radiator is to replace the existing fan with a "pusher" fan.

Keep in mind however for your plugging problem, using a pusher fan will cause the trash to now collect on the engine side of the radiator - where it's more difficult to clean out.

Suggest instead wrapping the grille front with common window screen, then periodically brushing the collected stuff off while 'hogging.

I did that to our Oliver 1650 for 'hogging - it works great.

Is it really more difficult to clean the back side of the radiator? Seems to me that the easiest way to clean it is to blow into the clean side, so the garbage stuck on the surface doesn't need to get blown through the entire radiator to the other side, and instead, simply gets blown off the surface of the radiator. The way it is now, you have to get the air hose between the motor and the radiator (which is quite a trick on this tractor) and blow the stuff out the front. If a blower fan were installed, he would just have to take of the grille and blow in the front. Understand what I am getting at? Also, the plants hit right against the grille, and knock most of the stuff off, so that the garbage is out of the way by the time the fan gets there to suck air in and blow it out the front. Just a thought. . .

interesting thought chadd, i"m in a hard spot either way i go. i have a home made real heavy duty radiator guard on the tractor and then once past it you have to remove the grill and then swing the oil cooler out of the way. then it would be ease to blow the radiator out, if you turned the tractor off and if its hot i don"t like to do that. oh look, there i am, between the rock and hard place, again. thanks for the input.

I've been in his situation, too. Cutting hay with our 2500A is the same thing (I suppose it would be, it is the same tractor). When our 806 went down, I had no choice but to use it. I would do the outside round and the grille was plugged full of garbage. Ours already has window screening in the grille. It still manages to get it through it and plug up the oil cooler. After you put the screening in, you will still have to get off every round and clean it off, but now it is mostly the grill (which you can bang against your leg), and not the radiator. This is one area where the extra height of the Farmalls have the standards and utilities beat. I haven't had to clean out the 806, 966, or M yet this year.
