I have a 1947 Farmall H. I replaced the magneto with a distributor. It is still running on six volts. I pulled the generator and had it serviced and the guy put a new 6 volt saddle mount on the generator. The tractor uses the l h d m switch system. The tractor is not charging the battery and I think the lights are running off the battery. When I pulled the magneto, the wiring harness running to the generator has two leads. One is for the battery and the second one I taped off. Any suggestions would be appreciated where my problem may lay.

I have also a 1952 Super M. The rear light is working but the two front lights are not. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem may be.
Thanks
Monty

Try grounding your front lites to a good ground, I have found grounding is a big problem.Sometimes it is in the clamp on the light, sometimes at the U bolts holding the light bracket and I had one it was at the base of the steering support, I,m taking for granted your bulbs are good

Someone else will give you a detailed wiring diagram for battery ignition. I use the one in the operator's manual. Your generator needs to be polarized, and you MUST use both connections. If the dealer put a cutout relay on your generator the low, high, dim, bright switch works as it always did. If he installed a voltage regulator L and H are the same.

Thank you very much for you reply. I did polarize the generator. One wire connects to the "Bat" terminal. Where would the second wire connect to? The "l" terminal is the only terminal not being used. Terminals "A" and "F" are connected from the voltage regulator to the generator. The "bat" terminal is connected correctly, I believe. My manual does not have a diagram that shows the wiring for a Farmall H with a distributor; however, it does show the wiring diagram for the Farmall H with a magneto. Any further suggestions you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
