After almost a year, I finally got the cylinder head for my '54 SH back from the machinist. As usuual, he did a great job. Anyone up for a little guessing game? The work is listed below, the game is guess the bill. Clean and magnaflux the casting, install exhaust seat inserts and grind seats (valves are new), install bronze sleeves in valve guides and ream to size, resurface the head, he also installed the wrist pin bushings in rods and fit the pins.

Not bad as I was expecting to hear. I saw an empty 400 head bring 860 dollars on ebay a few days ago. I sold a good one ready to use for 500 while back. I feel I lost 360+.

Well I posted an update last week on a head for the M that ran just about $1000.00. Had the head sent away to get the 2 cracks fixed, new valve seats, new guides, new valves installed, a slight shave on the head just to make sure it was true to install. Would kind of hate to guess but say maybe $400.00 for what you had done.
