Has anyone ever double gasket an MCV to get enough backlash at pump drive gear? Just installed TA, fired her up, and got a "squalling" noise. Dropped lower plate, and feels like very little backlash at gear. On original dissembly, gear was loose and pump shaft was worn.

They make different thickness gaskets for that reason.

Did you replace the pump gear? If so, did you get the correct gear? There were two different gear sets with different tooth angles, and they will squeal like crazy when mismatched.

As far as I know, Steering pump gear is the same . PTO drive gear is different, which I double checked before installing. Thanks for your reply. Again, I don't have much backlash between steering pump gear and drive gear.
