Does anyone have experience using one of those PTO hydraulic pumps to add hydraulics to a Farmall A? Also, could it be installed in place of the belt pulley?

Saw a pretty slick setup years ago on a Super A. They had mounted the pump on the front crankshaft pulley somehow, and ran the hoses back from there. Can"t remember the details now. it was at the Hutchinson, KS state fair about 25 years ago.

Using the CHAR-LYNN POWER PAC you have single,two-way,resivour,pump,and controls all in one unit. They have around 10gpm flow just dont run them over 700 rpm.Would work great for a front blade then using the two-way the blade could be angled left and right.

Now that's an interesting setup. Was that a kit of some sort?

Home-made by the previous owner who was a friend of mine and really handy.

About 4 gallon per minute pump with an IH starting fuel tank for a reservoir and a spool valve. I could put something like it together for about $400 or so with all new parts - maybe less if I shopped around a while.

I have my own custom made live hydraulic system with power steering on my H as well:

Looks pretty good! Wish IH had made it easier for us and taken a lesson from Ford earlier though.

We had one on a BN that operated the loader. Worked OK, but it's not live hydraulics, and not a lot of excess capacity, but I don't know how many GPM they are rated for.

They are made to mount right over the PTO in place of the PTO shield. Don't know how much trouble it would be to modify one to mount to the belt pulley instead. Belt pulley turns faster than the PTO, don't know how that would affect things either.

I have one laying in the shed that I'm going to put on a B, when I get to it.

I am thinking of using it with a loader control valve to operate a snow blade to give me lift/lower/float and left/right. It seems the only option.
