I"m with the others, put a new one in if you"re going to the trouble to split it. Also, put in a new pilot bearing and clutch while it"s apart unless it looks almost new!

One time I had a pilot bearing going bad in a pickup. I took the transmission out and only replaced the bearing. Bad mistake. Within a year I had a throwout bearing failing as well. I learned from my mistake and replace everything in the clutch, including the pilot bearing I had just replaced. You don't want to pull a transmission, or split a tractor for a $25 part when you were just in there. Now, I always replace everything whether I think it needs it or not. P.S. the truck is still going about 8 - 10 years later.

My catalog says they are the same, but as Geo says why risk it when you can buy a new one for less then $25 and know 100% sure you are putting in a good part when that old one maybe junk, rust up or just plain bad from sitting. Plus if you value your time you have to figure you would have more then $25 worth of your time into taking out that bearing

Unless you've got your parts 140 already split, I'd think splitting a tractor would be a lot of work just to salvage a throwout bearing.

Should be, but I would put a new throwout bearing in the C if I were you. They are not very expensive, and less trouble than taking a chance on a used one.
