This is the first time I have ever bought a tractor to restore. I would have liked to of had a farmall regular but I found a F-20 that was n great condition. I just don't know how to figure out what year it was produced. I have the serial number but I had to make a guess at a couple of numbers. I think it said I04079N but it could have been 104079N not real sure. If anybody could help me I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

sprewitt

Thanks everybody that responded. It was said that a narrow was hard to find so what would one in good condition be worth. It has spoke wheels and there are only two things I will need to do to it (paint and it floods every time it starts) that I can tell right off the bat. I'm sure that I will find more when it comes down to it.

Thanks again,

sprewitt

If it has rubber tires on it, it could have the high speed trans in it also. I think it would be a 4 speed instead of a 3 speed. Narrow treads are hard to find.

The N at the end of the serial number means you have a narrow tread tractor, the rear of the tractor is a little more narrow than a regular F-20. They are hard to find.

Should be FA104079N, The N stands for narrow rear

You have a late 1937 not a 1939. Check the tab on the left of this page under Research & Info, then Serial Numbers, then look for Farmall, then for F-20. It gives the years starting serial number.
