H float adjustment

Just bought a rebuilt carb for my farmall h. Gas pours out of it when I installed it so I took it apart and found the float setting very different than the one I removed. It had a broken casting, hence why I bought another carb and didn't rebuild my original. Anyway, can someone tell me what the proper height is and where to measure it from?

Thanks,

I think I'd send it right back to wherever you got it.

If it wasn't for postage and the fact that these are so simple, I probably would have. Got it repaired in less than a half hour. The height adj. was wrong and the shaft the float pivots on had slid to one side allowing the float to sag at an angle. The bracket the pin mounts in has a split in one side so it can be adjusted to hold the shaft so it won't slide side to side. I fixed it so the shaft can't slide out again. I guess it was an innocent mistake but I sure hate having to remove it and repair when you spend $170.00 plus shipping to get a rebuilt carburetor. If I had time I could have found a good core and rebuilt it myself. I thought I could save time by buying one already done for me. Didn't work out that way..... .

according to i

according to the i&t shop manual from the farthest part of the float to the top of the casting should be 1-27/32"plus or minus 3/64"

This is my way of doing it, but I turn carb over and set the float to it is parallell to the body of the carb. Thatnormally always works for me
