My Superc will run fine until you put a large load on it for and extended period of time. I have cleaned the points and I have always had my doupts about the Carter carborator. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do???

I have heard lots of folks run down Carter carbs. I have used them for years and had no problems that don't happen to other carbs as well. I would do as Jim says and check the fuel flow and then try another coil. My SC would run perfect until you dropped the plow and the it missed and sputtered and had no power. It was the coil. A new one fixed it right up.

Fuel flow needs to be as much as would flow through a 3/16"soda straw out the carb drain or fuel line. if not that is it. Weak coils are affected by heat and can fail causing the same symptoms. JimN
