I constantly see tractors for sale that are supposedly demonstrators. Is there any way to be able to verify they are definitely demonstrators and not just another tractor masquerading as one?

Somebody once told me that the demonstrator models had a star or asterisk stamped on the plate in front of the serial number. I have no idea if this is true or not, anybody else ever heard of this?

from a couple previous questions and 2 different sources:
cub demos should have serial nos between 99536 and 106517.
c demos should be between 47010-54411
super a demos should be between 281269-285298. i don't know if every one would be a demo, but those nos were given as being in the time frame when the demos were made.

Not perfectly, but in many cases yes. The Demo units were painted without primer(as all Farmall letter series that were normal red) thus if the original paint was painted over, and the paint got into areas that were never repainted (or perfectly stripped of white when repainted, it is possible to tell that it is likely a white demo. I do not believe there are any records (other than the factory and window of serial numbers and models (including balers and possibly other equip. of the era) unless a dealer had the numbers recorded and they still exist. (no one has mentioned any sales records here that I know of. JimN
