Pete! Need to know what tractor but if talking about H or M the PTO drive maybe warn bad. I don't understand what deane said belly pump has nothing to do with PTO.

what model tractor? if it is a farmall with a belly pump it will jump out if presure goes to high. if a cyl is full out or in with no place for fluit to go or using a spool that is Not open center. no place for fluit to go [DEAD END ] pump will shut off by jumping out of gear. hope this helps
