Is there anyway to tell if a post was written in the Classic or Modern composition box? If a post uses the quote, bold, italics, or underline functions, it is reasonably certain where it came from. When it doesn't have those composition features, it could be written on either board.

I ask because when I want to reply to an old thread, I can't be certain it will be seen by the thread contributers unless the old posts were all using the Modern board.

Ya, I know, I should just start a new thread in either version and not worry. I like to practice conservation when it comes to new topics. Don't like to see them disappear off page one because someone writes a related comment in a new thread.

Classic posts can be noted by their use of Gothic text and parchment.

Me personally, third party image I like to whittle down third party image the quote into just something third party image usable that I'm third party image speaking to directly third party image... if applicable. third party image

As far third party image as the smileys third party image is concerned third party image as long as folks don't go overboard with them, I think they inject a little life and personality into the post.

But then I'm ony 35, and barely out of puberty. third party image

I'm not sure of your question but I just responded to a couple of old posts in the old style and then clicked over to modern view and they moved to the top . But no , they don't move in the old style so people like me don't see them unless we go back for multiple pages which I usually do . I don't like the new view because of all the dingy smiley faces , the endless quote boxes and childish goop on it but I do like the fact the old threads move to the top as responses are posted . I would like to see the smiley's and qoute boxes restricted from the old view too but I don't suppose that'll happen . I use the old type smiley's myself but the new colored versions that move are distracting . I guess at 50 I'm just to old to learn new tricks ! ...Randy

To make my point a little clearer I'll add that if I knew what version the thread contributers were using, I'd know how and where to respond. This only applies to old threads.

The other day I started a thread about Ottawa loaders. At the same time, a discussion about the Ottawa, KS tractor show came up on "Tractor Talk". I thought I would ask those contributers if they knew anything about the products that were mfgd near them. If they were using the Modern version, they would see it. If they were using the Classic, it is unlikely they would be aware of my post.

This is not a big deal. I was hoping someone had discovered a way to determine the board source of a poster.

I've not answered a old post for this very reason. They used to get back so far. David.

This is one of the main reasons why I disliked the old style. Once off page one or two, the topic was pretty much done. In the modern view you know what is current because they stay at the top. But with the mix it's hard to tell.

I would say post new threads when necessary, even if you could reasonably respond to an old topic. That way you cover the bases for all users. I don't think anyone would get upset. And if they did, they need to really ask themselves why.
