New top link mount on SC, and question

The 100 dollar SC had a nasty looking top link mount. This is what it looked like. These are arms that bolt to the Axel housing. They were not real good and moved around a lot. No way to get them tight enough.

I decided I need to do something different. Here is what I have now.

I made the plate out of 1/4" steel. The eyes are 1/4" thick Hammermill hammers. I used the stock bolts to put it in place and the top bolts are 1/4"x5" I put 1/4" pipe in between the plate and the seat. The pipe is to keep it from flexing at all.
Question, how much can I lift using this? The way the old one worked this one is much less able to move around.

The most I would lift is a brush hog, blade, and maybe a corrugator. Ron

Yeah, I will second that "I don't know". The center and top bolts are the only ones doing anything, and most of the strain will be on the top two. I am having visions of it bending over, unless your tool box is a LOT heavier than mine. I made an adaptor with the ball sockets as close to the prongs as possible, and bent a piece of 1 X 2 1/2 steel in a wide U shape and welded it to the prongs for the to link mount, so there is nothing in the middle to interfere with the pto shaft. Your old top link mount wasn't real pretty, but I bet it was strong in a straight line pull.

I know the old fella that had it used the old top link set up to lift a home made road plane to smooth the road. He also used it to pull two row corrugator, a ditcher, and a two bottom plow. As flimsy as the old one was I have to think it should work. I guess if it don't I will have to beef it up. Ron

Not sure about that set up, but the bush hog can be easily changed to fast hitch and will work fine, That is a factory fast hitch on your tractor. The blades are easy to change over as well and a lot easier to hook and unhook from tractor.
