LP M isn't getting gas

Hello, I have bought a 49 M on LP and have been wroking to get it to run. Finally, tonight in the dark, I got the timing close enough that it kicked off on starting fluid but I can't get the propane to do anything. It will actually run as long as I squirt some fluid in the intake. I thought the propane would eventually be running to the cylinder, but it hasn't yet. I bought it as a non running tractor and it hada been sitting up a while. I put new points, condenser, plugs, cap and wires on it last week. When it started hitting tonight, all kinds of rust, dirt and who knows what all else flew for a while out of the exhaust. The question is what procedure do I do to trace down the problem. The tank is showing 75% full of gas. I was hoping not to have to take the carb off, but between the carb and the tank and the regulator, where is the usual place that the gas gets stopped up after an lp sits for a few years? Any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks Cowman. I am heading out to start disconnecting some lines till I can get some gas movement. Don"t know about Nebraska, but down here you can"t ever tell where a dirt dobber can find to build a summer house.

NO, LP don't get gunky like gasoline does. There is a suction hose from the carb to the pressure regulator that tells it to turn on and send vapor. Hard to tell what is wrong but if tractor has been sitting the valve could be stuck. I assume you have the valves turned on at the tank? Yeah, both liquid and vapor. I think the rule in the old days was start on vapor and run on liquid but I leave both vales open. Once you start turning them off and on they go to leaking.

I went adn disconected the hose from the tank and guess what? The gauge on the tank is broken since it has no propane in it at all, and was still registering 75%. I guess that may be my problem huh. There I go trusting an lp gauge again. I guess I need to have a new gauge put in while it is empty. Recon?
