What a Year! in reply to Tyler Fortney, 08-23-2007 16:46:00
For me, anything from 1939, 1940, or '41 is interesting, just because of the craziness of those days.

I'll spare you (and others) the history recap, but here are some songs that were popular that year:

Glenn Miller, In the Mood

Kay Kaiser, Three Little Fishes (Vocal by Ish Kabbible and Harry Babbit)

Benny Goodman, Let's Dance Teddy Wilson, Sweet Lorraine

Harry James All or Nothing at All (Vocal by Francis Albert Sinatra).

Thus, 1939.

Good buy! I have a special fondness for the first in a series of successful tractors. The differences between the 30 and early 40 tractors sets them apart visually and puts them in a unique category. The differences were not deficits either. The changes were cosmetic, not functional. Good effort. JimN

I'm going to try to get back there today. I brought my camera to take pictures of a few parts, like the fenders, to make sure they are what I want.
Anything in particular you want pictures of? The original seat assembly (no pan) and cut in operator deck with forged gear position really jumped out at me. That's how I knew it was a '39 right away.

sounds great!!! glad you got it. now you need to pick up an owners manual, go over all the service and lubrication points on the h and "get er in the field".

What is the serial number?
I found a junk '39 at a tractor junk yard today, serial number 9849. I'm going to get some parts from it.
