Hey guys, I ran across a stage I SH with a L prefix. What does it mean? Were any built in Lousville?

Just wondering, what condition is it in and what do they go for in your area.

Hey, what ever happened to Katherine or Dean Alison? I wonder if she kept that old Ford.

Lanse plain H's around here go any where from 400 up to 12 or 1300. SH bring from 1200 up to 3000. Depending on whether it is Stage one or two. Have no idea about Katherine or Dean

I think the L means it was made in Lousville. They are harder to find.

Andy, I don't think any H or SH were ever made in Louisville. Some SM's were, but not real sure about SH.

An L PREfix would indicate that it started life as a stationary or combine engine.

Clarification in reply to ScottyHOMEy, 08-23-2007 13:33:55
I was relying on Guy Fay's book for that last tidbit, but I do see that he shows the PREfix as part of the parts numbering system.

As far as serial numbers go, he only shows suffixes, in which case the L indicates a high-altitude head.

That makes more sense, as the number is straight off the serial number tag for the tractor and not the engine. I did not look at the one on the engine. Thanks for the info.
