I have a 1956 350 Diesel that has a crack in the left side of the block. Water is not getting into the oil but I can't drive it. the engine is the Continental Diesel. Any idea where to get another block?

Grove it out and fix it with JB weld. Drill small holes 1/8" in the ends of the crack so it doesn't continue to grow. If you put enough work into it you will never know it's there. Drain the block of course and heat it up good with a torch after spraying it with some carb cleaner to get the metal good and clean.

There are several companies around that can repair that crack to the point that you will never know it was there. I've lost the link to the one that is just North of Des Moines, Iowa, but if you need it I might be able to find it again.

James,A crack in the side of a block is nothing new,It can be pined as the tractor sits if you can get to it.Most of them can be welded by a good experienced welder.I no this is right for a gas motor,Im sure a deisel wont make a difference. Its been my experence to work with what you have

You will have a tough time finding one of those. Just start checking salvage yards. One from a 350 diesel utility is the only other tractor with that engine. You may be able to have that one repaired. Folks do amazing things with them now days.
