Farmall Super M - Carb Problems

If the former be looking for float level set too high, a float pontoon cracked/flooded, possibly an orifice ("jet") loose inside the float bowl, etc.

If the latter I'd start with the governor. Make sure it's opening the throttle plate the full 90 deg with the governor handle pulled back and the engine stopped.

Another thing to check is the spark timing - both at slow and max idle RPM. It should be at TDC at low idle and advance to 35 deg or so at speed. If it's not find and fix the cause before messing with the carburetor.

The float is level, and tight, no leaks... carb looks clean and all fittings inside/jets are tight... I did take it off and put it back on... but it was tight coming off.. so that doesn"t seem to be it.

I do have 30 weight oil in air cleaner bowl, so it looks per the book, that I should change it to 10 weight. maybe too much air restriction??

I found the points, and condensor rusted up bad, and distributor full of dirt/rust... and now the plugs are fouled, so just put plugs, and points and condensor in... The points are set at .023", so I can tighten those up a bit.. I can also check timing.. and check for play for distributor rotor, and look for timing advance, and will check governor... I got it running but it was missing so have not had a chance to try it again... not sure why it was missing, unless it is the point gap..

So going to check spark on all the wires next, confirm timing.. point gap... just strange that the main jet has to be closed up to run half way decent..
