I've been through the carb, governor, etc. runs good for abou 15 min. then okay on level or downhill but stalls on even slight grade. Pulling/mowing with Farmall BushHog. Have to baby it by making sharp left turns or find a downhill. Any ideas? Going nuts here.

I had the same problem with my farmall m it ran good on flat ground then try to go up a slight grade it would lose power I also thought it was carb. I found all it needed was a good tune up spark plug wires corroded in distributor cap. I put new plugs, rotor, condenser, points, dist. cap, plug wires. Runs good now. Al

Open your main jet adjusting screw near the bottom of the carburetor. Hal

I like George's answer. if you have strong power on the flat, cornering or up hill should make little difference. There is a screen in the fittong at the carb inlet that is often guilty of restricting flow. Setting the float level to spec and checking the screen, is a good idea. Electrical issues may be the problem. While it is running and brakes locked, wiggle wires and looms from the coil on bact to the elect box, and to the battery. JimN

Check all your wires. Could be a bare place on one causing it to ground out.

A doctor would tell you don't go up hill and don't make right turns and send you a bill.

Does this happen with a full tank of fuel? Some sediment bowls have a short "stand" tube which could extend an inch or so into the tank. This would make you think you have enough fuel when don't.

Good Luck,
K-Mo

Still does it with 5 gal in there. I've had the bowl off/cleaned but didn't get up inside the stand pipe, figured if it's pouring out of the line at the carb I'm okay, but noticed the float valve (carb apart) only let a trickle through when open, it's clean, is that normal? Seems like the "turning left" thing is simply pushing what gas is left in the resevoir over into the intake hole. The whole thing is clean. Hey, thanks for responding so quick. Scotty

Had this happen to me twice with my cars. It was always the Carb. float hanging up somehow.

Special thanks to K-Mo and HughB. Twice now the shaft that the float pivots on was worn and falling off it's bracket intermittently, probably when I was hitting rough ground or making a sharp turn. Is this rod supposed to be a press fit on the one end, clamped on the split end of the float bracket? Otherwise I'm cutting a groove on either end and adding a snap ring (or get a new rod/float assembly)? Anyway, GOOD JOB, GUYS!!!
Scotty - from formerly drought stricken SW Michigan, now part of Lake Michigan, heh.
