One of my friends was driving it around and all of a sudden there was a cloud of white-blue smoke 50' long and a good 20 high!! Looked at it, and saw there was oil in the carborator. rinsed it with gas, and pulled/cleaned the head, and now it dont smoke, much, but only runs on full throttle/choke. Any pointers appriciated. Thanks alot.

If only runs on full throttle and choke, there is a carb or intake leak. I can give you a word of advise on the forum since it seems you always get a lot of heat about things. I have seen 2 good snapper mowers totally ruined by 2 different kids here in town doing the same exact thing but 2 years apart. Hot rodding it. They were doing wheelies and overiding the throttles with the governors and seeing how fast they could get it to go. Both mowers ended up with BAD oil leaks in the engines and both of them threw rods.I cut grass for people here in town and ended up cutting thier yards because thier mowers were junk. Parents were pissed because they had to pay me AND get a new mower and didn"t have the money to do both. Kids being rough on machines is nothing new, heck, in the late 1940s my Dad and his friends (about 14 yrs old then)used to cut the bodies off on Model A fords and race them out in the pasture until Grandma saw one of them flip a car over and put a stop to it. I can hear the ford guys cringing now! He eventually became a great mechanic and had his own shop and yes he has a nice Model A Ford in the garage, but my point is most guys on here LIKE machines! and like them to run nice. They just hate to see things get trashed and they really don"t want to hear about it when it is done intentionally for kicks. One thing they would like to hear is you got that snapper running so good you cut "X" amount of acres in an hour with it and used only so much fuel. Anyway good luck with the mower.

Lanse, he probably tipped over the tractor and got engine oil in the breather. He didn't tell you because he was embarrassed. There may be issues with the carb, or the pulse valve in the side cover that acts like a PCV valve. If it was not tipped, (and you were witness to the fact, the valve may still be an issue. it is located in the tin side cover over the valve springs. Good luck. I would also recommends the garden tractor forum for better help, and more specific answers. The units are really not toys, playing with them will aways be a danger and liability (as well as a great way to wreck them) Most youngsters know nothing and care less for property and propriety. Good luck, and play with gocarts, not tools. JimN

98% of the people on here could care less about your snapper. You have probably two on here that have been giving you advise (not heeding) and trying to be nice to you. Please don't clutter the forum with your BS.

I'm sure I will be taken to task for this - but don't take it for much support from the majority.
