Plugged Farmall C oil breather

I recently bought a nice looking 1950 C which supposedly has 14 hours on a complete overhaul. While checking it over, I found that the air breather is essentially plugged. Someone has wrapped electrical tape around the oil filler tube and jambed a cap over it so that it is sealed completely.
My question is "will the 14 hours running with a plugged oil breather damage the engine?" I have a new breather cap on order and will change the oil and filter.
Thanks
Charles

No, it probably would not harm the engine. The worst it would have done was blow a seal somewhere on the engine. If it is not dripping oil now, it was most likely not harmed. mike durhan

Thanks. That probably explains the small leak at the rear main.
