I recently changed my gear oil, used 90wt gear oil. now that gear oil leaks out of the PTO, and wheel hubs, never did this before I drained the old stuff. do you think I just overfilled it? How fast should it come out of the level plug when checking gear oil level? Thanks for the help.

If you mean the transmission top cover no it does not need to be removed to replace the pto and axle seals. The pto seal is replaced by unbolting the retainer and sliding it off the pto shaft. Drive out the old seal and press in the new one and bolt the retainer back on. The axle seals require you to remove the wheels, do this one wheel at a time. Wire brush the axle shaft clean from rust and paint. Unbolt the retainer, slide it off the axle and drive out the old seal and install the new and slide it over the axle and replace the wheel. The brake pinion seals, brake shaft seals and the front two seals can also be changed in a simaler manner. If you don't have a repair manual get one. It privides tne information needed to replace the seals correctally. This website sells them. Good luck!

The old oil you drained was most likelly 50 years old and was more like 200wt from all the crud in it. The seals are also most likelly original and worn to much to keep the new oil in. The only way to fix it is to install new seals.

I agree with C. Amick, (implication: it may be over full) and would add this possibility for your consideration:

It may have been below the full mark for a while. Now, you have brought it up to the full mark, and you now see what seals need replacing - until it leaks back down well below the full level again. Of course leaving your tractor in this condition would not be satisfactory, for obvious reasons.....

It should not come out the level plug hole. The oil should only come to the bottom of the hole.
