How about a TD9 pump on an MD in reply to PHILLIP W., 08-15-2007 10:29:16
Not to hijack the thread but will a pump from a TD9 work on a MD. I can get one real cheap and I was thinking of putting it on for tractor pulling and enhanced field performance

Sorry it will not. The engines in the 9 series are quite different. a 450 with some possible mods is the biggest. JimN

Yes they will fit. MD,SMD,400D,450D. Pat, depending on how late a 50 model is, the live pump will fit some of them. 1950, serial number 228082 and up will accept the live pump from a SM, 400, 450.

Unless your MD injection pump was switched sometime, it has a type A IH pump with a primary and scavenger pump on the rear with 3 lines plumbed to it. 400 may have a type A or B, If its a B type there will be 2 lines plumbed to primary pump and no scavenger side. A drip tube is used on the bottom of B type pump and none on A. If you switch from one type pump to the other some of the lines will need replumbed. Model number of pumps is on a metal tag on side of pumps. Some adjustment may be needed when switching certain pumps to a different engine and some will be okay.

i do not think so becuase the 400 had live hydros but what you could do is put a pump on the pto or you can by a hydraulic pump and run it off the belt that turns the fan
