Lanse: NEVER mess with a battery trying to disable it. It emits hydrogen gas that is very explosive. I mean like it will ruin your day not to mention your face and clothes. Hydrogen gas plus a spark will put you in the hospital.
Your post are annoying but I don't want to see anyone injured due to ignorance. Let the guy make a few dollars. If you don't like him then haul you r battery to the junk yard and pay to have it disposed of.third party image

If we suddenly don't hear from Lanse anymore we will know why.

Hugh, it was close to 100 here today, and 104 just to the west a few miles. My wife hauls them off around here when she takes her aluminum cans and what have you off.

Thanks for the idea, but how did you train your wife to haul away old batteries? You should write a book.

Is this a great site, or what? :)

I didn't. It was her idea to haul off the cans. Someone told her she could take batteries as well. I load them and the man in town unloads them. She just drives and keeps the money.

Our Lion's Club picks up the batteries in our area...no charge. We just shipped out an estimated 34,000 lb. load to Winnipeg at $.19 per lb. They had to be wrapped to spec and there was some annoying paper work. Shipping cost was about $500. So we cleaned up a problem, made a nice bit of money and drank a few beer afterward.
