Do you use pullers to get bull gear off or will it slide off? How do you get the axle out after the bull gear is out? thanks for the help.

The bull gear is held on the axle by a big flat washer and bolts. The axle housing must be taken loose from the outside of tractor and then it will just pull out of the bull gear if that washer and bolt is removed from it. The bull gear itself will not slide off on the inside unless the pinion cage is removed, but you don't need to fool with it. Just unhook the bull and then take out all the axle housing bolts and pull it right off. It is heavy so don't drop it on your toe.

And don't let the bull gear fall off the end of the axle into the bottom of the case. This is a good way to screw up something that is not broken already.

It is a fair job. The bull gear must be taken off the axle and axle removed from tractor to install the new seal. Some say it can be done by accessing the bull through the hole in the rear end after removing the PTO unit. I have never tried this method. I always pull the deck cover and go in from the top. There is a seal on the outer end of the axle, but it only holds grease as no oil is suppose to be there. The inner seal is the problem.
