Does anyone know how to wire up a tractor without using a regulator? I want to use a light or something to prevent overcharging. This is a 460 with a 12 volt generator. I have a MSD box that drains a lot and I am not really that concerned about overcharging. I use it as a pulling tractor and it doesn't get run much. Can I just wire the two posts on the generator to my battery? How do you polarize a generator without a regulator?

What is an MSD box? Just put in a cut out instead of a regulator. Ground the field wire to make it charge and if you do not want it to charge when pulling, just take it off.

I'd say ask the boys over at the pulling forum.
