Anyone ever done this?

I had a bad transmission in my H, so I bought an entire rear end to replace it with. Have it all ready to bolt on, just have to figure out how to do this without crushing myself. Block up the frame and use a 2 ton shop crane(cherry picker) to move the rearend into place?

The stands below are neat. However, I see some disability with using them. There may be a variation in the elevations of the two pieces you are trying to assemble and as rigged you cannot get any giggle. One end or the other should be stable and the other end being subject to moving up and down and perhaps a little jiggle in order th make the alighment work. I think that it would be good to put the jack shown under the rear (or blocks) to make the rear level. Remove bloister and rails and have the engine on an engine jack so you can guide it into place with the guide bolts as are described below. The long guide bolts are a must and no matter how you cut it or how accurate you are, you will need a little jiggle to get the mating back in place. Once your engine is in place and bolted up. The engine is swinging in place...disconnect your engine jack...put on the rails and engine mounts...use the jack to swing the bloister in place and you are good to go. So, with a good engine jack and some sturdy blocks...the likely hood of crushing is nill.

Tom, if you look close I think the wheel on rear stand can be adjusted up and down and also the front lower cross bar has jack bolts. When supporting the front part with engine or M size tractors with engine, I would sugjest at least one cross brace from bottom of one leg to higher up on the other on front stand. Also helps if angle braces to front on front stand legs will hinge at legs for mounting on some tractors. Can't tell in picture if his does. But everyone has an opinion on the best way to do things and his could be better than mine. Sugjestions not ment to downgrade his work which looks good and he's proud of and probably just fine. On original post I'm not sure if he wants to split behind engine or behind torque tube, If behind torque tube and leave everything ahead in place his support would need to be a little different.

Just finished doing the same thing. I plan on needing to do this again sometime, so I built these stands. Makes the job safe and easy.

Buy 4 new bolts that match the primary torque tube bolts, but are 2 or three inches longer. Cut off the heads and slot the end with a hacksaw. use these as a guide for assembly, then remove and replace with the regular bolts. Do not use the bolts to finish closing the gap, it should mate without pressure!! JimN

I have done it with Farmall 460's but never and H. Advise i can try to give you is to make sure the floor is flat and level. Make sure the tractor is in neutral and engage the the PTO, That way when your going back together with it you and turn the PTO and that will in return turn the input shaft so your splines will line up. And finally TAKE YOUR TIME!!
