I have been a red man most of my life and was wondering when McCormick came into the farmall IH line? Or is McCormick an IH? Thanks

If you are speaking of the NEW McCormick line of tractors, they share only the name. Not related in any shape or form to the original McCormick or McCormick-Deering tractors.

All Farmalls were either McCormick Deering Farmall before 1947 or McCormick Farmall after 1947. Farmalls are row crop tractors. The McCormick Deering before 47 or McCormick tractors after 1947 were wheel type/standard type/wheatland type tractors. International tractors during the letter series era were industrial tractors.

Now george! All them Union guys wanted to make wages enough so they could afford to buy what they built. I doubt very many Chinese, Mexicans, or any other people in these developing nations are being paid enough to buy what they produce. Honestly, it isn't about Unions.....it's about profits.....BIG ones. Nothing else.

Me too, but that has never mattered for us old dirt farmers. We take what they give us and make do the best we can. I don't begrudge a man for wanting or needing more money, but many companies have been put out of business by strikes. Just look at IH. I have quit following the Reds ball team that I once loved dearly because of the baseball strike of several years ago. They make to much money as it is for playing around. Some of them should have to scratch and dig like I have. You are right about the bottom line, but look at all the folks who work for 10 bucks an hour or less. If they strike they go hungry. If farmers could stike we could change the world, but the bank would foreclose on a man that couldn't pay his bills for the duration of a long strike. I am selling my crops for 50 cent a pound less than I use to and nothing I can do about it but tighten up. I squeak now when I walk so much I can't hear myself think.

George,

We're gonna have to get that dutch oven out once the weather cools off, have a sit down and cure the world's problems...hehe!

What was that Mexican's name out in California years ago who organized the farm laborers....Chavez maybe?

Perhaps the farmers should form a Union.

We don't need more Mexican's..we need inventors like Eli Whitney.....who will come up with mechanical means to harvest produce crops like lettuce, pick fruit like oranges and apples, etc., without bruising....what America needs is a generation of thinkers and doers. Not more cheap foreign labor that ends up costing the taxpayer 10X in the end. The Mexicans are far from stupid...they get their woman knocked and make sure she is in the States when delivery time comes...instant Citizenship for the kid and who can drive the parents away from the baby? HAR!

The Industrial farms are what is killing the independent producer.....much like WalMart killing the local mom&pop stores. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to learn that Walmart would be invested in such operations to supply their grocery business.

Everybody should be entitled to a good living. Good doesn't mean opulence, but a decent living so our kids can have plenty to eat, we can wear nice clothes, sleep in a warm home, and we can have a dependable car. It isn't right that the worker scrapes by, while the fat cats at the top live like Robber Barons. This attitude that suggests the rich should stay rich because they own the companies and because we asked them for a job..... that we should accept whatever chump change they throw our way....is bullshit. Everybody deserves a slice of the pie. The man at top.....who runs and owns the operation..obviously, he gets the biggest slice, that's only right. But that doesn't mean the workers should only have the crumbs that fall from his table. If there were no workers...Mr. Big couldn't make his fortune. They should be well paid.

Speaking of pie....I'd like to have a good pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream...the real stuff, like granny made.
